When debating on 'Artificial Intelligence', sometimes you are told that 'everything in the universe is conscious', therefore a computer must be conscious too! You are even told that a computer can be possessed by spirits. This is then taken to mean that fears of terminator-like 'rise of the machines' to take over the world should be taken seriously! So it is no longer 'artificial intelligence' at all. No, it is not technology any more. It is now a full blown incarnate evil spirits, a 'works of the devil' that 'no human can understand'!
This happens when you insist that a computer is actually nothing but a clockwork device no different from a series of gears and gogs. In this way, the idea that a computer can be 'intelligent' is misguided. So the advocate of the devil now switches gears and talk of spirits that can be incarnate in machines, or that machines being inherently consciou is plausible. But can the 'panpsychic' idea that 'everything is conscious' means that a computer can truely become 'intelligent' like a human being? I don't think so! First, everything is not conscious. I don't think that is the proper stand of panpsychicsm. If everything was conscious, there is realy no need for the evil spirits to waite for a human being to create a sophisticated computer. They can possess TV sets, vehicles, chairs stones etc. Those spirit would simply incarnate in your car and voila, it now becomes 'artificial intelligence' driving you to wherever it chose!
In panpsychicsm, we say that 'everything is proto-conscious', not 'everything is conscious'. Proto-consciousness is, in some way, like 'potential energy'. So it is a suggestion that consciousness is fundamental in nature even though no everything at every time is manifestly conscious. Movement is fundamental in the sense that it doesn't arise from a combination of things that each of them is not itself movement. But, as you can see, this does not mean that everything is in a state of motion. An object can still stand still, even if movement is fundamental properties of objects. It is in this sense of 'stopping from moving' that things such as stones, tables etc are not conscious. They are sort of 'sleeping', and even a conscious human can cease being so in a deep sleep. So it is not true to say 'everything is conscious', but consciousness is a fundamental property of all things, nevertheless.
A computer cannot be conscious because it is designed purposefully to mimic human activities without being conscious. Pascal's adding machine is designed to add numbers unconsciously in that non of the individual activities by the gears etc act with intend to summing numbers. They are just being moved by adjacent gears, and ultimately by humans, in a totally blind way. We don't need any incarnation of 'spirit' to explain how addition of numbers comes about. The process can be perfectly understood by a human, and it is very easy to do that. The fact that both the addition machine and the brain arrives at the same end: adding numbers, doesn't mean that they work the same way.
But a computer works exactly like a Pascal's adding machine! Inspect each and every component as it works, and you find it doing simple task that are, not different from 'movement of gears'. One transistor drives an adjacent transistor just like gears drives adjacent gears. The whole thing is totally blind! Complexity is not 'magics'. If each and every activity is blind, then a 'complex' combination of such activities results in nothing but a complex, blind machine. Anything else other than this is sorcery! Perhaps a spirit could incarnate somewhere in a transistor, but a computer is made purposefully not to work on such. This is because the aim was to create a machine that can be used and controled by a human being. Incarnation of 'spirits' would merely bring uncertainties to how the computer works and it becomes unreliable. It was for this reason that we wanted a computer to do the task, rather than a human doing it. The 'spirit' in human brings about what will be 'errors' from the point of view of those who want to employ the 'computer'. If you don't understand the spirit workings in the brain, which I suppose this is the case for scientists etc, then they will only seem like errors to you, and you will want a machine that 'doesn't have such errors', and a computer is precisely such a machine.
On the other hand, the brain works in a totally different way from a computer. A brain is not an 'ensemble of blind events' that each can be understood by a human being. Each component forming the brain, down to molecular level works in a 'chaotic' manner as influenced by the surrounding environment in a totally unpredictable way. If we were seeking a theory of 'soul interaction with matter', then we will not want one that results in absurdities such as 'why the soul does not incarnate in a stone etc'. A theory that allows a soul to incarnate in a computer is precisely such a theory. But if we suppose that the soul takes the advantage of microscopic wigglings, then we can readily explain why it incarnates in thr brain but not in a stone. This is because the brain has various means for amplifying and cohering those microscopic wigglings. On the other hand, the man made computer has none and does not tolerate any 'wigglings' that those tidy brains in tech doesn't understand, as they only brings about 'errors'.

One of the greatest things a human being can do is to serve others. The truest form of selfless service is when we give without wanting anything in return. That is the spirit in which we should give. This means that we do not broadcast to others what we do to receive adulation, praise, power, or name and fame. Rather, we serve from our heart and soul in the spirit of helping others because it is the right thing to do as children of the all-giving Creator. This attitude has the power to heal.
Selfless service is not only a job or task to be done; it is an act of healing, of opening hearts and of radiating love. It is an immeasurable gift that spreads love and healing wherever we go. The heart of the giver is soothed, healed and filled with love. The giving also heals the hearts of the recipients, opening their eyes to the humanity of others.
We never lose when we give. Many times in life, we may have experienced an opportunity to give something to someone in need, making a sacrifice, only to find that it was either returned to us or circumstances changed, and we did not need to give it away. Yet, we were rewarded with the feeling of satisfaction of having sacrificed for others. We feel God’s blessings showering down upon us. We thank God that we choose to give rather than to be selfish.
If we are selfish, we often find ourselves filled with remorse and regret. We always feel sorry that we did not give. However, one never regrets or feels sorry for giving. There is no greater joy that can fill our heart than giving. All those who have ever given selflessly would have experienced that one never loses when one gives. They find more and more blessings raining down upon them unasked for, and their heart is filled with godly love.
Give from the soul
How many times do we only do acts of goodness when we want to impress others? Do we find that in our offices we speak humbly and kindly to our boss, but sorely abuse our co-workers or subordinates? How many of us give only when we are on display for others to see how generous we are, yet in the loneliness of a street we walk cold-heartedly past a beggar?
Let us give from our soul. Our mind gives for selfish reasons. It wants praise from others. It wants respect from others. It wants to make a grand show of how kind and loving it is, when, in reality, it is self-serving. Soul gives for the sake of giving. Soul gives out of a sincere desire to help others and wants nothing in return. It does not even wish to be known for what it has done. When the soul gives, it is the God within us giving. Just as God does not want anything in return for all its wondrous gifts of creation bestowed on all forms of life, so does the soul give selflessly.
When we want to be in tune with God, then let us give from the soul, selflessly, lovingly, without any show, and without any thought of return. We only want to serve and relieve the suffering of others. That is giving from the soul and has the power to heal others.
Spiritual development through giving
Spiritual development means inculcating higher values of life. This means watching our thoughts, words and deeds so that we think, speak and act ethically. Leading a spiritual life is a combination of meditating to find God within while leading an ethical life without. It is said that an ethical life is a stepping-stone to spirituality. Ethical living entails developing qualities among which include: non-violence, humility, love for all, and selfless service.
When we lead a life of serving with a kind and patient attitude, we not only inspire those with whom we work, but those who are not leading a spiritual life will notice our patient and kind qualities. Others who are curious or strongly interested in spirituality will notice something about us. They will see that we are calm and collected. They will notice that we face life’s challenges with nonviolence, love and humility. They will also observe that we give freely of ourselves selflessly.
These qualities will attract others who wish also to lead such a life. Thus, it is important that we be examples and model spiritual values in our everyday lives.
Selfless service strengthens our spiritual development. Our words and actions arise from our thoughts. If we have thoughts in which we want to help others, then that will cause our words and actions to reflect that. If we are going to talk of the need for selfless service, we must be practicing it ourselves. Let us serve selflessly and be an example, rather than tell everyone else how to serve or criticise how he or she serves. Let us inculcate the truest type of selfless service in our lives.
Meditation can also help us because as we sit in silence and go within, we see the same Light of God that is in us is in all other people. We realise that we are all part of one family of God. We realise all souls are part of one team — God’s team. We are all connected. Thus, if any one of us is in trouble, we are all in trouble. If any one of us is hurting, we are all hurting. If any one of us is losing, we are all losing. Rather than losing, we all should be winning. If we have the gifts to be a winner, then by helping others become winners, all of us win, and we become the true winners.
We also realise that no matter how different our backgrounds are, we are all one family of God. This attitude of loving and accepting people who are different from us is one of the fundamental keys to selfless service.

A few practical tips for living a genuinely happy, free, and peaceful life:
1. Forgive
This is the best first fallback for anything. Without forgiveness, you will never know peace no matter how justified you think you are in not forgiving. Forgiveness does not mean being a doormat. It means releasing the person from their offenses in your heart and then taking whatever action you need to protect your peace. Release and bless them to go in peace. Wish them well and bless them. Most people’s sickness, financial problems, and the chaos in their lives are simply because they have not forgiven people in their lives and are holding on to resentments.
2. Ask for forgiveness/ Make amends
Ask for forgiveness as well when you cause harm to others. Do this as quickly as possible. Remember cause and effect is a universal law. Any harm done to another will come back to you. But by owning it and seeking forgiveness, you will be able to reverse or at least reduce the severity of your consequences greatly.
3. Live within your means/ Avoid debt
As far as possible avoid borrowing money and living beyond your means. If you borrow, borrow what you can pay back. Debts create stress, fear, panic, tension, and an internal sense of slavery. In the worst cases, people get sick, depressed, and suicidal because of the problems and broken relationships they have created by borrowing money and not repaying. You cannot live a peaceful life when people are hurting, or threatening you because you owe them money.
4. Avoid drama and drama bringers
This speaks for itself. Try as much as possible to stay away from toxic people who like chaos, arguments, gossip, backbiting, criticizing, judging, fighting (physically and emotionally), malice, and other such traits, and from places where such things happen. If you can’t avoid it, just keep quiet. Where such things happen, a lot of negative karma is accumulated.
5. Mind your own business
You don’t have to know everything or have an opinion about everything. Mind your own business and don’t get into people’s business. Where many words are spoken about other people’s business, negative karma is sure to be created. Speaking negative things about people and things you know nothing about will come back to you.
6. Honor your intuition and sixth sense
Don’t do anything you’re not comfortable with. If your gut feeling tells you to stay away from someone or something, heed it. Honor your intuition and God’s voice in you more than people’s convincing words.
7. Have clear and firm boundaries
Say NO when you mean NO and YES only when you mean YES. Avoid leading people on, giving in to things you’re not sure about, staying in situations that no longer serve you, or saying yes to please people. Feel free to change your mind and say it. Do not over-commit yourself. Boundaries will protect you and help people learn to respect you.
8. Don’t be a people pleaser
Honor your life and your life path. You don’t need to be liked by anyone. Just make sure you like yourself and are pleasing yourself. Your relationship with yourself is the most important one.
9. Be honest/ Do not lie
No matter what, say the truth even if it hurts. Lies create very negative karma and will always be exposed eventually. Be honest even when it will cost you. Own up to your mistakes immediately, apologize, and face the consequences. Live an honest life and you will never have to look over your shoulder. Lie and you will always live in torment and in the fear of being caught. And the law of life does not forget, you will reap what you sow. Being honest also means living honestly in every area of your life. You’re not fooling anyone, but yourself because you will reap what you sow.
10. Practice the Golden rule- Do unto others as you would like them to do unto you
This is a big one. What you do to others, you do to yourself, for we are one. That’s a universal law. The golden rule protects you from harvesting negative things. Let your words, thoughts, actions, motives, and beliefs be guided by love. You will falter many times, but when you do, forgive yourself, ask for forgiveness, change, and try again. Progress, not perfection. Treat others like you want to be treated no matter what they have done, and no matter who they are. Hurting another person is hurting yourself. You may seem to get away with it for a while, but it will always work against you in ways you do not expect.
11. Love yourself
Last, but not least. Everything listed above is a form of self-love. That’s why I put this last. When you forgive others, right your wrongs, live honestly and within your means, mind your business, honor your intuition, avoid drama and negative company, have healthy boundaries, and treat people like you would treat yourself, you are practicing self-love, and this will automatically create good karma and you will attract what is good in your life. You will be in harmony with the universe, rather than at odds with it.
