Self attunements

Is there a right way of asking yourself ( higher self) for an attunements or do people ask their higher self for an attunement in different ways that feels right for them?
When I ask for an attunement mentally in my head, I feel like I am just talking to myself, is that what it's meant to feel like?

Don't ask it mentally in your head.I believe that is better to say it out loud to make sure that your higher self would listen and attune you. Also ask God and your Higher Self for an attunement.
