Almost any object can be attuned to Reiki. Ask the object first if it wants to get attuned to reiki. Sometimes, it can decline, if it has some other purpose. I think it should work. And yes, it can be used as a healing tool, once it is made a Reiki channel.
I have read about this topic on different webpages. So I am sure it works. Objects can be attuned to most types of reiki and reiki like energies. Wood is no exception.
If you turn something into a reiki channel it can help you while you do healing or help you if you have it on you. But i don't believe on it's own it's enough for healing. I don't know if that's exactly what you mean. I haven't turned anything into reiki channel after i was attuned to Usui Reiki but i was remember reading this in the Kundalini Reiki manual to turn things into Reiki channels.
