How to Attract Helpful People into your Life

Erica Sofrina

April 11, 2013

Attracting helpful people is an important key to success in both our personal and professional lives.

The art of Feng Shui addresses all of the main areas of our lives and teaches that our homes can be useful tools for attracting all of the things that we desire on our deepest level.

Form School is a particular school of Feng Shui that uses what is called a Bagua Map. It is a map that is put over your floor plan that identifies the nine key energy centers (the “Helpful People” section is one of the nine).

Using the Bagua Map is similar to creating a vision board. It gives you a physical place in your home to place the visual affirmations that you are working with. Once you locate a specific energy center, you place objects there that represent what you want to bring into your life, as well at the things you want to keep on flowing. Just like a vision board, the messages you planted there in the form of physical objects are registering in both the conscious and subconscious mind and are sent out to the universe like radio signals.

As in the law of attraction, like attracts like. The more powerful the visual affirmation (i.e those fused with positive emotions) , the more powerful the thought form. The strength of the thought form is what focuses the chi ( energy) in the desired direction. In working with energy enhancements, make sure to choose the objects that have the most meaning for you (if you make them yourself, even better!). Feng Shui is not about hanging a talisman in your space that mysteriously brings you good fortune. This is a trite quick-fix approach which is unfortunately promoted in many Feng Shui books, giving it a bad name.

At its deepest level Feng Shui acknowledges our profound connection to our physical surroundings and the interconnection between the seen and unseen worlds. It teaches that in aligning our outer environment with our deepest desires (our inner environment), we bring our lives into balance.

In Feng Shui Helpful People refers to the angels who appear in our lives just when we need them. It is about synchronicity, being in the right place at the right time and knowing that the universe will send us the necessary helpers to assist us on our path. A chance meeting with a stranger links us to finding our life partner or connects us to a dream job, etc.

The Helpful People area is also about Travel . This is a great place to place pictures, books, postcards and other objects depicting the places you wish to travel to as well as affirming that everything will go smoothly when you do.

You may want to enhance this area if:

  • You want to attract teachers, clients, colleagues, customers, employees, a nanny, gardener, contractor, or helpful people of any kind into your life, or if you are planning to relocate either your home or job.
  • If you desire to travel and intend that it to be safe, easy and synchronistic.

How to Locate and Enhance the Helpful People and Travel Area of your Home

This part of Feng Shui comes out of the teaching of the Bagua, the source of which is the ancient Chinese book of wisdom and divination, the I Ching. To read more about the Bagua, I will refer you to my prior article: Where is Energy in your Home.

The ancient Feng Shui masters felt there were certain energy centers of our homes that correspond to all of the key areas of our lives. We can locate these energy centers by overlaying what is called a Bagua map, onto the floor plan of our living space. Once we locate them we want to:

1. Take a look at what is going on there and see if it connects to what is going on in our lives at present. (You may have some ah’hah moments!)

2. Clean it up, clear it out and make it an attractive place to spend time in.

3. Add enhancements to encourage the chi (energy) to become activated along with environmental affirmations that represent what it is you do want to have happen in this area of your life. These can be collages, vision boards, meaningful objects, pictures etc. What ever invokes a sense of excitement and passion around the desired object or outcome.

Next: How to enhance the Helpful People and Travel Area

Enhancements

Here are some suggested enhancements if you would like to activate the Helpful People and Travel area of your home:

1. Objects, statues, posters or vision boards that represent your own personal spiritual guides such as saints, angels, gods, goddesses, deities, nature, power animals, totems, etc.

2. Posters, paintings, collages or photos of special places you have traveled or would like to travel to or objects from places in the world that have always inspired you.

3. Pictures and objects that represent the living ‘angels’ in your life.

4. Items pertaining to helpful people such as clients, customers, employees, teachers, benefactors and mentors that you want to attract into your life or keep in your life. You may be working with attracting the perfect nanny or gardener or handyman, or even volunteers for your non-profit.

5. Create a ‘helpful angels’ garden outside or a nook in your home. If you are missing this area from your floor plan, create the garden in the area outside where this would be located in the home. Add the symbols that are the most personal to you. (Please note I am not promoting we have our yards look like ‘My Big Fat Green Wedding,’ with huge statues of Athena in the front yard!)

6. Find a box you love and turn it into an affirmations box and place it in this area. Write an affirmation about what it is you desire to bring into your life in terms of Helpful People and Travel. Write it with gratitude, in present tense as if it is true now. Date it and read it frequently, visualizing clearly what it is you are requesting and feel it as if it is happening in the present.

7. Accessories in the colors of white, gray or black. Please don’t paint the walls black, just have some accessories in these colors which represent both the water and metal elements connected to this area.

If you are trying to sell your home, you may want to put cards of Realtors in your Helpful People Affirmations Box. If you are looking for a new home, pictures and affirmations of the ideal place would go here, placed next to your vision

Next: The Bagua Map — how to locate the helpful people and travel section of the home

How to Place the Bagua Over the Floor Plan of your Home.

Click Here for your free color copy of the Bagua Map

1. Draw a sketch of the floor plan of your space. This should be the birds-eye view as if you are looking down on it. Include all built-on decks, stairways and attached garages. If you live in a condo, apartment or one room, draw the shape of this as if you are looking down from above.

2. Draw a square or rectangle over the floor plan in the shape of the Bagua map. Stretch it out into a long skinny rectangle if need be. All of the areas of the home (or space) need to be within the square or rectangle. If your home is an irregular shape, still draw the rectangle or square around it. Not all homes are square or rectangular, so you may very well be missing some areas of the Bagua. Instructions on how to deal with this are below.

3. Stand at the front door with the map parallel to the floor with the Entrance Quadrant touching your stomach. This will tell you the direction to overlay the Bagua map onto the floor plan of your home.

4. Now divide your home with the Bagua map overlaid on it in nine equal sections. This will identify for you where all of the key nine areas are of your home are. The wealth area will always be the far left quadrant of the home and the Love and Marriage the far right section, etc.

5. If your home is not a rectangle or square, you may be missing areas of the Bagua. If this is the case, you can do a mini-Bagua for each room of your home and enhance the HP & T corner of each room. Treat the main entrance to the room like you would the front door of the home and lay the Bagua accordingly. This energetically brings back into the space the missing area. If this area falls in the yard, create a Helpful People garden if appropriate.

6. If you have more than one floor of your home, what ever is below is above. You do not turn the Bagua differently for each floor. In which case you may have more than one H P & T area, the same rules of enhancement apply to all areas!

Note: I practice and write about Western Form School Feng Shui, which works with the Bagua map and is a different school than Classical Compass School Feng Shui, which uses a Chinese compass along with Chinese Astrology to determine chi or energy flow. I suggest you choose the approach that resonates the most with you and stick with it.

How to see comet PanSTARRS over the UK this week

Sky-watchers in Europe could catch a glimpse of a visitor from very deep space this week - the comet PanSTARRS will be bright and visible until March 18.

• This photo of PanSTARRS was taken by Markus Mugrauer in Santiago de Chile on March 6th using a Canon D10

Sky-watchers in Europe could catch a glimpse of a visitor from very deep space this week - the comet PanSTARRS will be bright and visible in our skies until March 18 this week.

Binoculars are recommended to catch the comet, which will be faintly visible on evenings this week, around sunset, according to Sky and Telescope magazine.

The comet will not return in our lifetimes - its orbit around the sun is thought to take 106,000 years.

PanSTARRS is now at its closest to Earth and being lit up brightly by the light of the Sun.

It was first detected in 2011, when it was 1.2 billion miles from Earth.

The comet - a lump of ancient ice - is thought to have come from the Oort Cloud, a cloud of icy objects the edge of our solar system, almost a light year from the sun.

Skywatchers in the Southern Hemisphere captured spectacular images from Mexico, Uruguay, Chile and New Zealand last week.

Comet Pan-Starrs as seen from Mount Dale, Western Australia (AP/Nasa)"Our good views should begin around March 13th, when the crescent Moon is there to point the way," says Alan MacRobert, senior editor at Sky & Telescope magazine.

"Before then the comet was too near the horizon. It will start fading later this week, so if the sky is clear, don't miss your chance."

“The best time to look is about 30 to 45 minutes after your local sunset time. This narrow window of viewing time comes after twilight fades enough for the comet to show through at all, but before it sinks too low and sets.”

“On Wednesday March 13th, you'll see a thicker crescent Moon higher up. Watchers in Europe should look below it by about the width of your fist at arm's length. On Thursday the 14th, look two fists below the Moon and perhaps a bit to the right. After that, the comet will gradually move to the right from evening to evening as it begins to fade.”

Dr Pedro Lacerda, of Queen’s University Belfast says that UK watchers may catch a glimpse at around 6.45: “The coma at the head of the comet should be visible to the naked eye but to see the tail may require the use of binoculars. The most visible features will be its tail and bright coma.

LAS VEGAS, NV - MARCH 12: The comet PanSTARRS, above and to the right, passes over the Stratosphere Casino Hotel …

“Those features originate in the nucleus of a comet, a solid lump of dirty ice which, heated by sunlight, sublimates and feeds the diffuse cloud of gas and dust that gives the comet its fuzzy appearance – the coma. Then, light and other particles from the sun push part of the coma away from the nucleus to form the tail which gives comets their spectacular appearance.”

“Comets are important as frozen relics of the formation of our solar system. Before plunging into the inner solar system they spend most of their lives beyond Neptune at temperatures below negative 220 C. For that reason comets retain ices of the ingredients that were present when the planets were born and that are long gone from the surfaces of the much warmer asteroids, for example.”

In this episode of Ask Teal, the topic is: The Akashic Records.

Teal explains that the Akashic records is the human way of understanding that every thought that has ever been thought, exists.

Therefore, one aspect of collective consciousness is a vibrational "record" of every soul and its journey throughout all universes that ever have been before now and all future potentials originating from now. She describes the Akasha as being like a library, where the levels (or floors) of that library in the universe are dimensions. The information in each dimension corresponds to the frequency of that specific dimension. So to access specific information in the Akashic Records, one must first become the same vibration as the dimension which contains that specific information. Teal then explains a bit about what information is contained in each dimension.

How to Access The Akashic Records, Ask Teal Episode Part 2 Reguarding the

http://youtu.be/_rqjtY3ZL10

This episode of Ask Teal is part 2 of her discussion about Akashic Records.

In the first video, Teal discussed what the Akashic Records are. In this video, she addresses the question of how to access the Akashic Records.

The Akashic Record can be summed up as any thoughts which has been previously thought in the history of this universe or any universe. All of which still exist.

In this episode Teal explains that one does not have to go anywhere to access the Akashic Records because it is not a "place". Instead the way one is able to receive information and have experiences in and of the Akashic Record, is by attuning one's personal frequency to the frequency of the information one wants to know or the thought one wants to experience.

The best way this is done is through deep states of meditation, trance, visualization, or out of body travel. She explains the universal concept of resistance and allowing which is all about energetic frequency and applies directly to someone's success or lack there of with respect to experiencing the Akashic Record. Teal also reminds us that we are all interacting with the Akashic Record all the time.

It's simply not an interaction most of us are consciously aware of.

Wild Dolphin "Asks" Divers to Help Free Itself from Hook

http://youtu.be/wL9I4BxuryY
Published on 22 Jan 2013

Dolphins may be one of the planet's smartest creatures, but one thing they lack are opposable thumbs. However, they are clever enough to recognize that, in a pinch, they can approach humans to get help with those hard to reach spots.

In this video, a bottle nosed dolphin with limited mobility due to a hook and fishing line restricting a pectoral fin, approaches some divers for help. Diving instructor Keller Laros noticed that the dolphin was hanging around them, and that it wasn't able to move freely. Closer inspection revealed the ocean debris lodged in the fin.

Thankfully, the dolphin not only allowed the divers to attempt to work the line and hook out of the fin, but actually shifted its body to make it easier.

The divers were able to remove the fishing line which allowed increased movement for the animal. Unfortunately, the hook was not able to be removed.

Pill to Gill: Antianxiety Drugs Flushed into Water May Be Making Fishes Fearless

Levels of human drugs commonly found in the world's waterways may be altering the way fishes behave

By David Biello

Perca fluviatilis
Lake Eildon

Levels of human drugs commonly found in the world's waterways may be altering the way fishes behave.

Antianxiety drugs may be making fish more aggressive. New laboratory tests reveal that even extremely low concentrations of the calming drugs benzodiazepines—more commonly known as Valium and Xanax, among others—cause fish to become less timid and to feed faster, among other effects.

"This is an essential drug that is used around the world," said chemist Jerker Fick of Umea University in Sweden at a press conference preceding publication of the research in Science. Benzodiazepines calm people with anxiety by stimulating the GABA receptor, enhancing the sedative effect of that neurotransmitter. The drugs are then excreted in urine, often as the compound oxazepam—a compound that is produced when the body breaks down some benzodiazepines as well as a drug in its own right. Then there are all the compounds are flushed down the toilet.

But humans are not the only animals with GABA receptors. "It is present in almost all vertebrates. All fish have these," Fick added.

A previous survey revealed that low levels of such antianxiety drugs contaminated Sweden’s waterways, reaching levels as high as 0.58 microgram per liter. Oxazepam in particular proved long-lasting because even sunlight failed to break it down. As a result, the compound built up in the tissue of wild-caught perch, reaching levels of 3.6 micrograms per kilogram—or more than six times higher than in the surrounding waters. So the Swedish researchers decided to run some experiments to see how these low levels of drugs might be affecting fishes.

The researchers used 90 juvenile European perch, Perca fluviatilis—the same fish whose levels in the wild had been measured. They tested their behavior in clean water: recording how active they were; their risk-taking behaviors such as entering an unknown and open stretch of water; how they interacted with their fellow perch; and even how quickly they fed on prey.

The researchers then either kept some of the fish in clean water for a week, exposed them to low levels of oxazepam (1.8 micrograms per liter, or three-times environmental levels) or high levels of the drugs, 910 micrograms per liter. The effect was obvious, says ecologist Tomas Brodin of Umea University, who led the research. "They became more active, they became asocial and they became risk-taking," Brodin explained at the press conference. "We do daily care on these fish. On day three, without knowing [which fish was in which group], I could tell which fish were exposed."

That's because the unexposed fish would cower in dark corners or swim around nervously whereas exposed fish quickly explored new, but possibly dangerous aquatic territory. The exposed fish also ate prey faster—it took 75 seconds for unexposed fish to decide the coast was clear enough to eat zooplankton, as compared with 25 seconds for fish exposed to low levels of the drug and just two seconds for fish with the highest levels.

Drugged fish are not likely to impact humans: "You'd have to eat four [metric] tons of perch from the river to get one tablet of the drug," Fick explained at the press conference. "It's not a human health issue, it's an aquatic issue."

And it may be that the levels actually found in water—about one third of the exposure levels in the lab—are low enough that no impact is seen. "We need to reduce the exposure concentration to see where we don't have any effect," Fick admitted. But "we can see profound effects at low levels, at levels that correspond to levels we actually find in surface waters."

For an individual perch, a little less anxiety may be good if it leads to faster feeding. But such alacrity may also have unintended consequences, either by setting off a cascade of faster consumption of algae-eating zooplankton throughout the food web, thereby allowing more algal blooms in the ecosystem or simply by exposing individual perch to more predation. Fish without fear are fish that quickly get eaten by larger predators, such as pike.

It remains to be seen what the overall effect of the pharmaceutical contamination may be, although it has been going on for decades since benzodiazepines were first prescribed in the 1960s. But instead of flushing old drugs, the better bet is to return them to pharmacies for proper disposal as well as, potentially, develop new treatments for sewage facilities that can filter out the drugs coming into the water via human urine. "There are several ongoing research projects that try to develop more efficient removal techniques, such as using ozone," Fick told Scientific American in an e-mail. Otherwise, human antianxiety drugs may provoke yet more anxiety about the environment.

Greetings,

I am in the process of preparing a new book, which is most likely to be called "Experiencing Self Attunements".

The first book Mastering Self Attunements seems to have filled in a gap, so to speak, as many have found it "just what they were waiting for" to be able to experiment with self attunements themselves.

I am not claiming to have all the answers and that is why I ask, if any of you would like to contribute with your experiences in this field!

If you would, please plot into a text document a little about yourself, who you are and what you do, your experiences with self attunements and perhaps advices and observations you might have had during the process.

Some questions that might help you to get started:

How do you self attune?
What happens in the process?
How do you use the energy?
Is it hard/easy?
Have you taught the process/your own systems to others?
What is their response?
etc.

All contributors will (if they like to) have their contact details in the book (web address/email) and a free copy of the finished book in Kindle format.

Please email me the final text document to me at gabrielsenole@gmail.com.

Please further feel free to share this email with your friends, so I can get as many experiences in the book as possible. The more experiences I receive, the more inspiration will go into the book! :)

Thank you!

Blessings

8 Ways to Practice Self-Love

8 Ways to Practice Self-Love

Self-love is about knowing and honoring your needs, wants and wishes. It’s about understanding your inner world, including your thoughts and feelings. It’s about being kind and compassionate with yourself. Self-love is a spirit you carry, and apply to everything in your life. It is a daily practice consisting of nourishing and joyful activities. Here are eight ideas for practicing self-love in the New Year.

Respecting and honoring your needs includes knowing what’s happening with your body. But we often stop paying attention, especially when we’re pressed for time. To remind you, set an alarm on your phone for every hour or two hours, every day.

When it dings, ask yourself how you’re feeling and how you can respond to your body. For instance, if you’re tense, you might give yourself a massage or stretch your body. If you’re agitated, you might take a few deep breaths, meditate or walk for 10 minutes.

Whether you sit down every day or week, journaling is a valuable way to access and process your thoughts and feelings. It can be as simple as answering, “Right now I am feeling…” or “Right now I am thinking…”

In her book, Journalution: Journaling to Awaken Your Inner Voice, Heal Your Life and Manifest Your Dreams, Sandy Grason suggests exploring your emotions by listing all the things that trigger a specific emotion.

For instance, if you’re angry, write down, “I feel angry,” and, for two minutes, list all the things in your life that make you angry.

Knowing and living your dreams is a great act of self-love. Put away the shoulds, and consider what you really love to do. What activities bring you joy? What are your aspirations? What would you do for free? What did you love as a child? You don’t have to overhaul your career to live your dreams. You can channel your dreams into your days, whether it’s penning a poem before work or painting in the evenings.

Yoga is a safe and gentle way to reconnect with your body and your inner world. It also helps to cultivate kindness and acceptance. Practicing yoga isn’t about manipulating your body into a certain size. It’s about meeting your body and yourself where you are – and enjoying the movement and magic of your body.

Try a class at a nearby yoga studio, or find resources online. Anna Guest-Jelley, the founder of Curvy Yoga, has many excellent free resources on her website.

Boundaries are crucial for healthy relationships. As author Rosie Molinary writes in her book, Beautiful You: A Daily Guide to Radical Self-Acceptance, “There is never a day where it is better to be in a relationship that undermines, undercuts, manipulates, abuses or takes advantage of us than it is to be …in a relationship with ourselves that’s filled with self-love.”

But if you’re a people pleaser, setting and sustaining boundaries can seem overwhelming, or worse, impossible. So commit to creating one boundary, and seeing it through. Start small. And remember, as Molinary writes, “Being good, as it turns out, isn’t about pleasing. Being good is about being just to others while also being true to yourself.”

That harsh inner voice that criticizes your body or your intellect or anything else about you isn’t being realistic or telling it like it is. It’s spewing lies. Your own voice is kind, supportive and loving. So whenever the inner critic strikes, recognize that these self-critical statements are untrue, and replace them with something truly realistic, helpful or compassionate.

Many of us feel uncomfortable praising ourselves or even acknowledging anything remotely positive. But there’s nothing arrogant about appreciating yourself. (Don’t you appreciate your loved ones for their qualities?) Write a letter acknowledging your accomplishments, efforts and traits. If this is tough for you, put yourself in a friend’s shoes. What positive things would they say about you? Whenever you start to feel crummy, come back to this note.

Court yourself like you would a lover. What places do you love to visit? What activities put a smile on your face? What nourishes your soul? Spend time by yourself doing the things that make you happiest. In fact, go to your calendar right now, and schedule several dates this month. Every day self-love gives us an opportunity to tune into our needs and desires, and respond to them with care and compassion. It reminds us that we’re beautiful human beings, who make mistakes and try our best.

Just like we love our family and friends unconditionally, we can learn to love ourselves without requirements or shoulds, one step and supportive perspective at a time.

Australia floods: Sunshine and Gold Coast covered in 'sea foam'

Tourists, residents and emergency services were left bemused by the huge swathes of foam which were whipped up by high winds and then thrown onto land in eastern Australia.

Foam fills Australian town by itnnews

This was the bizarre scene on Australia's Sunshine Coast over the weekend, where extreme weather has blanketed coastal towns with several feet of 'sea foam'.

Tourists, residents and emergency services were left bemused by the huge swathes of foam which were whipped up by high winds and then thrown onto land in eastern Australia.

Videos have emerged of cars attempting to navigate through the thick 'snow-like' sea foam in Alexandra Headland and nearby Mooloolaba.

The sea foam forms when powerful storms force water into the air before it is washed onto the beachfront.

The foam may have provided beachgoers with a unique photo opportunity, but it has also had serious consequences as local business have been affected during travel chaos.

The extreme weather has provided some spectacular images on the Sunshine Coast with foam being stirred up by the …

Onlookers said the foam reached three metres high at its peak, with emergency services urging residents and tourists to cancel all non-essential travel.

Dozens of Australians have been left stranded by severe flooding in northeast Australia in the last few days.

The extreme weather has also killed three people and affected thousands of homes.

Thousands have evacuated their homes across Queensland and neighbouring New South Wales with widespread flood warnings in the southern path of ex-tropical cyclone Oswald.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard said the "wild weather had broken a lot of hearts", with some Queensland residents experiencing their third flood in two years, including the devastating 2011 inundation which killed 35 people.

Thousands of homes have been flooded by torrential rain in eastern Australia, and more rain and high winds are expected in Queensland and New South Wales.

Four people are reported to have been killed, including a three-year-old boy who was hit by a falling tree in Brisbane.

Officials are preparing for another day of evacuations after the Burnett River in Brisbane burst its banks.

Flood waters swept through homes in Ipswich in just half an hour, and residents used containers and canoes to save their belongings.

More than 2000 homes are underwater in the worst-affected city of Bundaberg, but that's not the most immediate concern for residents, who are just desperate to leave the area.

Many buildings in the region were destroyed in the floods two years ago, now locals are trying to save them from another flood.

The Gold Coast was spared major flooding - but there is plenty of damage as roofing was ripped off and boats driven ashore.

Further up the country in Queensland's Sunshine Coast, sea foam 3m deep covered streets and walk ways, whipped up by huge waves.

There was enough to almost cover a bus, and to completely cover a car.

Queensland premier Campbell Newman is urging residents to prepare for the worst in the coming days, with the Brisbane River set to peak at midday today.

Thousands urged to evacuate as Queensland floodwaters rise
http://www.3news.co.nz/Thousands-urged-to-evacuate-as-Queensland-floodwaters-rise/tabid/313/articleID/284687/Default.aspx?ref=vid_2012-11-22

With floodwaters rising in Queensland, 5000 Bundaberg residents are being urged to get out now – or risk their lives.

So far three people have died after being caught in the rushing water, and now a mandatory evacuation warning is in place after the Burnett River broke its banks.

An elderly man was washed out to sea when he went to check on his yacht in southeast Queensland. His body was recovered yesterday.

Today another two bodies were recovered, including that of a motorcyclist who was swept away whilst crossing a bridge.

Australian Deputy Prime Minister Wayne Swan says Bundaberg is one area which may be hit harder than it was in 2011.

“I’m told by people up there that this is likely to be the worst in the history, in terms of the level of the river – and that is posing some very special challenges up in that region.”

Currently 225,000 Queenslanders are without power, with the Bremer River and the Brisbane River also expected to cause major problems overnight.

Emergency responders are said to be extremely frustrated at needless rescues caused by people driving through floodwaters or going outside to watch rising rivers.

Deputy State Emergency Services Commissioner Steve Pearce says they've received more than 700 calls for help, and in some cases, rescuers are being forced to put their lives on the line because of foolish behaviour.

“The majority of flood rescues are [of] people attempting to drive through flooded roadways or causeways – so it’s people just rolling the dice, which is really concerning obviously,” he says.

Helicopters are scrambling to rescue those stranded on car roofs and houses, while 1200 properties are flooded in the east coast city of Bundaberg, 385km north of the state capital Brisbane. Most parts of the city are expected to be underwater at some stage.

Deputy Mayor David Batt told ABC Radio on Monday that hundreds of people need to be evacuated from their homes.

Queensland State Premier Campbell Newman says emergency crews are trying to rescue 30 people trapped on roofs in city.

In Ipswich, around 40km west of Brisbane, Mayor Paul Pisale is bracing for the worst, saying that after the deadly 2011 floods it's a case of déjà vu.

“I know I’m finding it very hard to deal with the emotional stress this morning, just talking with people,” he says.

“They’ve worked their guts out to get to this situation and now [ex-cyclone] Oswald’s come around and just kicked them in the guts – it’s very, very hard emotionally for me to feel, as you can imagine, what my community’s feeling at the moment.”

While the water peak is not expected to reach the levels seen in the devastating Queensland flood two years ago, 5000 homes are expected to be inundated.

The tail end of ex-cyclone Oswald is due to hit Sydney tonight.

If it's to be, it's up to Me

If it's to be, it's up to Me

It comes from within to change your life!

BY: Lee Papier

Whatever you want in life, it starts with you.

Nothing external affects you unless you choose to let it.

We are blessed with the freedom of choice and the co-creative ability.

Before we see something on the outside, we have to create it on the inside.

The inner-self creates the realities and outcomes that we have in the physical world.

So what are your belief systems, thoughts, feelings and vision?

Whatever you consistently focus on is what you create in your world and outcomes.

So if you want to change your results in life, it starts with your inner beliefs and values.

Do you focus on positive acknowledgements about yourself?

Do you consistently focus on positive outcomes and possibilities for your life?

Do you do this for others?

This is the only way to transform your life.

You must create a positive self image, have positive self talk and positive thoughts, which creates positive feelings and leads to positive actions and outcomes.

It takes the same amount of energy to be positive as it does to be negative.

The difference in quality of life, attitude, health, relationships and success is HUGE!

‘The quality of my life is directly related to the quality of my communication with myself and with others.’

Everything starts with you. You are the source of your life.

To expect things to change on the outside, without changing things on the inside is insanity.

‘For things to change, I must change.’

You always have what you truly want.

When you really want something you do not stop until you have it.

Any ‘story or belief‘ that people, situations or things hold you back are self imposed limitations and delusions.

All the blessings of life are available to us this very moment, right here, right now.

The choice of how good we choose to make our lives is up to us.

‘If it’s to be, it’s up to me!‘

Make your life a masterpiece.

How to Transform Negative Emotions

Do not suppress it - that would hurt you inside. Do not express it - this would not only hurt you inside, it would cause ripples in your surroundings. What you do is transform it. --Peace Pilgrim

How to Transform Negative Emotions
--by Viral Mehta, Original Story, Sep 19, 2011

It was a cold night in a wooded area, extremely dark, with no moon in the sky. I must've strayed off of the path at some point. I shuffled my feet around, trying to feel for the smoothness of the trail. But there was just wet grass. The moment I realized I was lost, there was an immediate surge of fear. In situations like these, where we suddenly experience an intense emotion, we often find ourselves facing a storm of "what-if" scenarios: "What if I don't find the trail? What if I can't find my way back? What if I have to be outside in the freezing cold all night?"

Before we know it, we are feeding these negative thoughts, which in turn strengthens the emotional response, and the vicious cycle intensifies. The problem isn't in the thoughts themselves, or even in the emotion. The word emotion comes from the Latinemovere, meaning to "move through or out." So in its original form, there isn't any trace of clinging to, or rejecting, these movements. But instead of allowing emotions to move through and out of us, we often feed them with negative thoughts and end up giving them long-term residence. In short order, the guests take over the house, leaving us reeling and unable to truly be in control.

So how do we turn this unhelpful pattern around? The key to any pattern is repetition. But in the case of such reactivity, this repetition is actually happening below the radar of our conscious mind. By the time a situation escalates to the point of emotion, we often find ourselves overpowered. The challenge, then, comes in sharpening our awareness so that we become sensitive to smaller versions of these same emotions.

Luckily, such micro-emotions bubble up in everyday experiences. Take an unrelated example. Say someone makes a snide remark in a meeting at work, and though it isn't a direct attack, I find myself a bit bothered. Just by having become conscious of that feeling arising, I put myself in the position to then see how it has started influencing me. What I'm thinking about is different, I'm no longer as attentive to the actual meeting and I'm feeling a bit resistant to other things that person is saying. All because of one small comment.

By consciously taking our attention to subtler levels of everyday experiences, we start to fine tune our awareness. We become increasingly awake to what's happening inside: perceptions, thoughts, feelings and sensations are constantly arising and passing. Luckily, this kind of attention is like a muscle: it gets stronger with use. The more we focus in this way, the more we start to see, but the real benefit isn't in just having more information.

The true value actually lies in understanding all the connections between these multiple aspects of our reality. We see that our interpretation affects how we feel and that, in turn, affects what we think, say and do. We start seeing the small ways in which we're "off," and more importantly, we experience their immediate effects. This becomes the basis for a powerful feedback loop and shows us where we have choice.

Initially, this choice won't shift things completely. But as we start to actually make more micro-decisions the momentum turns, and those everyday moments help in breaking our unconscious patterns. Perhaps before, that snide remark might've led to spending the next 10 minutes on coming up with a smart rejoinder. Then, it's down to two minutes before I realize what's happening. Soon, we find that our emotional reactivity has decreased, and we are catching things before they build up. Eventually, instead of getting lodged, these mini emotions flow right through us. As a result, we buy back our own time, as well as the space to re-engage with what's actually happening.

It might seem the antagonism that arises in meetings has nothing to do with the fear that arises when we're lost. But they actually share the same fundamental building blocks: a lack of deeper awareness, and therefore, an inability to make choices in how we respond. In the words of Victor Frankl, the great psychiatrist who survived the horrors of concentration camp: "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms -- to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances"

No one can take away that freedom, but no one can give it to us either -- we have to practice it. We can make every situation a gateway to shift our patterns, knowing that the effects of this change ripple beyond just that moment. Then, as we find ourselves facing a tricky situation, we recognize that experience as a series of smaller, consecutive moments, each with its own choice. When these choices become more and more conscious, the cycle of negativity never gets a chance to kick in and intense emotions don't get a chance to set up shop.

On that cold night, soon after I'd gotten lost, I experienced how this process played out. Though I have far from perfected the art, in that moment, the fear came and didn't find a lasting foothold. I soon found my way back onto the trail and also stumbled onto this little truth along the way: choice is the practice and its own reward.

On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know...
...that this is not the end, but the beginning. All endings
start something better. It is inevitable.

Here is God's promise: Life proceeds, it never recedes.

Life progresses, it never regresses. Not even death
ends anything, so how much can this particular event
matter?

It is true. When one door closes, another does open.

The movement of life is ever upward. Six months from
today you will know this. For now, trust it.

Do you think God does not know what She is doing?

Love, Your Friend....

On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know...
...that you were created to create -- not to react.

Creation is the highest form of Divinity, and your
birthright. Truth is, you are creating all the time. The
central question in your life is whether you are
doing this consciously or unconsciously.

Conscious creation is what is needed now.

Stop moping.

And stop thinking negative thoughts. Just
get on with it! Tomorrow awaits your choice as to
how its going to be. Call the shots! Make it happen!

You're in charge here.

Love, Your Friend....

On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know...
...that trust is not necessary when you don't want or
need anything.

If you are wondering whether you can "trust" someone,
look closely at what it is you think you need or want
from them. When you need or want nothing, trust is
not an issue.

And, of course, there is nothing that you do need,
from anybody, given Who and What You Are. You
are an expression of Divinity Itself, and Divinity is
your Source.

Thinking that you "need" anything, given that this is so,
would be nothing more than a misunderstanding.

Love, Your Friend....

On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know...
...that life is a game of boomerangs. Our thoughts, deeds
and words return to us sooner or later
with astounding accuracy.

Florence Scovel Shinn said that, and she was right. So
before you think, do, or say anything -- imagine what it
would be like to receive what you are sending.

Then, go one step further. Decide ahead of time what
you would like to receive...and then send it. Quite
deliberately. That is, give to, or cause in the life of,
another what you would like to now experience.

Then...watch the magic.

Love, Your Friend....

On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know...
...that nothing good is ever created by deception.
Not even the smallest untruth, not even the most
well-intended "white lie," will produce benefit in the
long run. So tell your truth as soon as you know it.

Yes, yes, I know...."But then...but then..." So you'll
have to decide which of the "But then's" you want.

There will always be a "But then." Yet shall it be one
you endure, or one you create?

If it's control you want, telling the truth puts you in
total control. Ever think of that?

Love, Your Friend....

On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know...
...that if you ask an impertinent question, you are on the
way to a pertinent answer.

Jacob Bronowski said that, and he was right. Therefore,
never be afraid to ask the question that it seems shouldn't
matter. Especially if it has to do with religion or God.

CwG says, "The question! The question! Always live
within the question!" It is when you think you have
all the answers that expansion ends, growth stops, and
your arrogance begins.

What question do you wish to humbly ask today?

Love, Your Friend....

On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know...
...that not everything has to turn out exactly the way you
planned in order for you to call it a success.

Sometimes all God wants you to do is to "get the ball
rolling." Then, She'll take it from there. So when things
turn out other than the way you wanted them to, don't
be so quick to say, "Bummer!"

Many a Bummer is a Blessing in disguise. Consider the
possibility that life is magic...and that there's a rabbit
in that hat.

Love, Your Friend....

On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know...
...that just when it looks like life is falling apart, it may
be falling together for the first time.

I have learned to trust the process of life, and not so
much the outcome. Destinations have not nearly as
much value as journeys.

So maybe you should let things fall apart at this
juncture if that's what's happening. Don't hang on so
tenaciously. The nice thing about things falling apart is
that you can pick up only the pieces that you want...
...and you know exactly why I told you this today...

Love, Your Friend....

On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know...
...that if you're doing something for someone else's
approval, you may as well not do it at all.

There is only one reason to do anything: to announce
and declare, express and fulfill, become and
experience Who You Really Are.

Do what you do, therefore, for the sheer joy of it,
for sheer joy is who you are. Do what you choose,
not what someone else chooses for you.

Love, Your Friend....

On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know...
...that desire is a powerful force that can be used to
make things happen.

Marcia Weider said that, and she was right. Yet do
not confuse desire with expectation, or with need.

Desire has an entirely different quality to it. You can
desire something without needing or requiring it.

That little difference makes everything work. That
little difference is the whole trick. Desire, do not
Require. To desire propels. To require compels. Life
will not be compelled, but it can be coaxed...

Whoever or whatever you are trying to compel today,
stop it. Just...fall back into the soft cotton of desire.

Love, Your Friend....

On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know...
...that life has nothing to do with what you are doing,
and everything to do with what you are being.
Be careful not to get caught in the "doingness" of your
life. That is not what you are here for. You are a sacred
soul, and you came here to the earth to Be something.

And not just one thing, but many things.

The wonderful thing is, you get to choose what that is.

And you get to do that right now. Always Right Now.

So what do you choose to Be right now? Happy?

Content? Safe? Peace? Forgiving? Compassionate?

Love? Go ahead, choose. As many as you wish!

Love, Your Friend....

On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know...
...that the next step is the most important step. Take it
now. Do not wait.

Life is not going to come down there and sprinkle
glitter dust on your shoulders to let you know that you
are Good...or that you are walking the Right Path...or
that you are making the Best Decision.

Take the next step. Right now. Stop waiting for a "sign"
from the "gods." Your sign is your intuition, wrapped
in your desire.

Hesitation is not a stopping place on the road to heaven.

Love, Your Friend....

On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know...
...that you are only one short step away from manifesting
what you need to reach your goal.

Do not stop now. Whatever you do, do not stop now.

Okay? Is that clear enough? Is that a clear enough sign?

You asked for a sign, didn't you?

So, is that clear enough?

Love, Your Friend....

On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know...
...that the acknowledgment of your weakness is the first
step in repairing your loss.

Thomas Kempis said that, and he was right. Sometimes
this is the hardest thing for people to do. Yet self-truth
and truth with others about where you have fallen short
almost ensures that you will go a long way. Everyone can
see you anyway, why not admit what everyone is seeing?

You cannot let go of anything if you cannot notice that you
are holding it. Admit your 'weaknesses' and watch them
morph into your greatest strengths.

Love, Your Friend....

On this day of your life, I believe God wants you to know...
...that everything is perfect Right Here, Right Now. And
Right Here Right Now is all there is.

Forget about the past. It does not exist, except in your
memory. Drop it. And stop worrying about how you're
going to get through tomorrow. Life is going on Right
Here, Right Now -- pay attention to that and
all will be well.

Embrace the present moment with gratefulness and
wonder, and you will turn it into whatever you have
been waiting for.

Love, Your Friend....

Benefits of Sustainable Living

10 Ways to Live More Sustainably

What do Natural, DIY bloggers talk about in the car? Usually stuff like this:

“How many simple sustainable living tips can you list? GO!”

It took only a few minutes to come up with this list of 10 ideas; some we’ve covered before, but they’re always worth mentioning again.

If you’re scratching your head about what living a sustainable lifestyle means and why it’s important, consider these manifest advantages.

Using less resources – The ability to be sustained in certain areas of life means that you’re not depleting resources. Whether you’re concerned with saving trees, using less energy, or saving water, sustainable habits will support these (and many more) natural resources.

Eliminating harmful chemicals in your home – When you begin “going green” or learning how to make more of your own products at home, you are reducing the chances that harmful chemicals will be present in things your family uses. Your family’s health is no longer compromised by chemical-laden products and the earth is protected from the disposal of these chemicals.

Saving money – Learning to live sustainably almost always results in savings. Sometimes huge savings! When you are relying more on yourself and less on large companies to provide life’s essentials, the profit-driven middle man is removed from the equation. A more sustainable mindset will also cause you to reconsider purchasing certain products or services you once thought were absolutely necessities.

Simplifying – Sustainability is about checking out the big picture. Do I really need this big house, or could we create a happy home in less square footage? Do I absolutely need a closet full of this season’s latest fashions, or can I be creative with a few wardrobe staples? Do my kids need a room full of toys, or could they survive on one toy chest full? Should we take a trip to the amusement park or spend the time planting our garden? These are questions that quickly come into perspective when your goal is sustainability. You need less, buy less, spend less, and ultimately want less.

Creating less waste – When you purchase less and make more of your own products, far less packaging is used. Have you noticed how companies go so overboard with packaging? Sustainability promotes using what you have until it can’t be used anymore, recycling, and purchasing used.

Increasing personal skills/knowledge – Living sustainably always comes with great lessons. Have you ever researched specific ingredients so you could prepare more healthful food? Or found and followed a great do-it-yourself tutorial? Your personal skills and knowledge base grow each time you take steps in sustainability.

10 Sustainable Living Tips

Compare this list against your curent practices and challenge yourself to tackle one at a time.
We’re depending on YOU to help advance the sustainable revolution.

1. Bring your own water bottle

I’m starting with one of the easiest things you can do to save resources, create less waste, and save money. If you’re still buying bottled water, take a trip to the store and check the oodles of great reusable water bottles on the market. We don’t go ANYWHERE without our BPA free Nalgene water bottles. Get into the habit of treating your reusable water bottle like your purse or your wallet. Make sure it goes to work, school, and around town with you.

2. Use handkerchiefs instead of tissues

I recently wrote about my transition to hankies and caused quite a flurry of controversy. The issue of germs becomes a barrier for some, but can be easily remedied by keeping clean hankies on hand and putting soiled hankies in directly into the laundry or a reusable wet bag to avoid spreading germs. This sustainable practice saves money, uses less resources, and creates less (germy) waste around the house.

3. Bring your own shopping bags

Don’t just take your reusable shopping bags to the grocery store…take them everywhere. Haul them to the Farmer’s Market, the Dollar Store, the hardware store, or even GoodWill. Have you seen the documentary “Bag It,” about the impact plastic bag usage has on the environment and our health?

After watching this documentary, Matt and I won’t even use the little plastic produce bags.

Make a small investment in a few shopping bags and reusable produce bags that will last several years, or better yet, make your own! How do I solve the problem of standing in line at the store and realizing I forgot my bags in the car? I have a set of Chico Bags that stuff into a tiny ball when not in use, and sit in the bottom of my purse so I always have them. Don’t carry a purse? Keep your bags in a place you will see them and remember to take them with you.

4. Reusable cloths instead of paper towel

We used to go through enormous packages of paper towel in our wasteful heyday. Those enormous packages have an equally enormous price tag. And it all gets thrown away! Ugh! Make a switch to reusable cloths…microfiber towels, cotton dishrags, or even old t-shirt squares. Keep a stack of towels in drawers or baskets around the house, making them easily accessible when family members need to clean up a mess. If you can’t commit to eliminating paper towels completely, hide your paper towels (so you’re not as inclined to use them) and see if you can get by without them for MOST things. Read more about using less paper products in your house.

5. BYO to-go containers and silverware

We haven’t actually tried this one yet, but are dying to see the looks on faces when we pull out our own to-go container for leftovers while dining out. Or what about busting out a set of bamboo silverware at an event where plastic is being used? We can’t think of any reason we wouldn’t be allowed to bring our own. It would create so much less waste, and you would have control over the materials your containers and silverware were made from. (I hate when a server puts my hot food into a styrofoam to-go container! Ew!) Trying this experiment might even give onlookers the courage to do the same.

6. Make your own cleaners

Large companies have duped us into believing we need a separate cleaner for every job in the house. Not true! We also don’t need to fill our home with cupboards full of harsh chemical cleaners. Making your own cleaners is so simple and fun we wrote an entire book on the subject. Natural ingredients can be purchased very inexpensively, and can be used for many purposes around the house. Family members with allergies, asthma, or other health conditions can benefit from chemical-free homemade cleaning products. Consider purchasing our book to learn how to make all your own household cleaners.

7. Make your own beauty products

Wouldn’t you love to have complete control over all the ingredients in your personal care products? Starting with a few simple products, like deodorant or shampoo, is a great way to get started if you haven’t dabbled in this sustainable area yet. It’s astonishing that the regulations on cosmetic ingredients still aren’t very stringent. Making your own will help you eliminate harmful ingredients in your products, save money, learn new skills, and simplify your products. Furthermore, if you make your own you can use upcycled containers, eliminating all kinds of waste from packaging.

8. Grow your own food

The more food you can grow, the more you can cook at home and preserve. It cuts down on grocery bills, increases your sustainability, and creates a wonderful sense of accomplishment at harvest time.

Growing your own food doesn’t have to mean becoming a small-scale farm. Grow herbs in the windowsill, or a few of your favorite plants on a balcony or porch.

9. Make your own condiments

A good rule of thumb: if it’s sold in the store, you can make it at home. Yours will be cheaper, made from ingredients you choose, and designed for your tastebuds. Your skills in the kitchen will increase, and your friends will think you’re genius. Get some tips at Nourished Kitchen for some great, healthy condiment recipes.

10. Become a one car family

We finally bit the bullet a few months ago and made the permanent transition from two cars to one.

Now that we both work from home it was a logical choice. Travel may require planning ahead and rearranging schedules, but being a one car family is a great lesson in sustainability. We’re saving gas, eliminating operational costs for another vehicle, and learning to plan ahead and run all our errands during one trip. I know owning one car would be more difficult for some families than others, but sometimes you never know you can do it until you try it. Consider biking, walking, or utilizing public transportation as other sustainable travel habits.
