Hermes, addressing His Son,
opens up His Son's Heart by speaking about the soul and the body.
Why is the soul immortal and where does the energy
that builds up and dissolves the body come from?
Death is far removed from anything
that even remotely resembles that Divinity known as the soul.
Many have speculated, thinking that to be alive
means to be dead and to be dead means to be alive.
Falsely supposing that death is the opposite of the meaning of immortality,
such embodied souls have brought their speculations too far;
for everything that is mortal is always necessarily immortal by Universal Decree.
From the revelations of Poimandres,
death is connected to destruction and a loss of life.
If penetrative enough, the soul within the body
will realize that nothing in the Cosmos is ever destroyed.
The Cosmos, being a glorified extension of the One and the All,
is a God in Its own fashion.
Like every other immortalized thing, not one of Its parts or pieces
can suffer from the disgrace of being overpowered by death's hand.
Being reasonable, My Son,
if you are a part of the Cosmos,
can you believe in death,
especially when you know that you are more than the Cosmos;
and thus more than all of Its parts combined.
God or Prime Mover is the Reality of the Eternally Unborn
Craftsman of Everything that can be considered a Totality or Whole.
Fashioning the Universe in Its Image and Making the Universe
Subordinate to Its Primal Will, the Cosmos of the Cosmos
and the Cosmos of Man was deemed Righteous and Reasonable
enough to be immortalized in Its Mind's Eye.
However, a very subtle distinction must be made
between the immortality of the Prime Mover
and the immortality of the Universe.
In Sum and Substance, the immortality of the Prime Mover
is Eternally Changeless whereas the immortality of the Universe is Eternally Changeable.
Not being caused by something superior to It,
the Prime Mover Eternally Exists through Itself,
meaning that this Prime Substance is not dependent
on any other substance for Its own Self-Inherent Existence.
Having the Prime Mover as Its Father,
the Universe was formed in a spherical geometrical form,
thus making everything within Its Perimeter
subject to a series of Eternal Transformations or Changes.
With the tendency for Matter to dissolve Itself
back into the Chaos of the Whole Wide World,
everything that pertains to the senses
seems to increase in vitality or decrease in vitality;
which is otherwise called birth and death.
Ruled by the Supreme Order of the Greater Cosmos Within,
what falls into disharmony and disorder eventually
finds its way back up to the Harmony and Order of the Immortalized Spheres.
Dissolved by the planetary substances or elements,
what is taken from the material plane of existence
is always used again and again and again
for the reconstruction of new bodies of Matter.
Death is thus a decomposition of the elements
which sustains the body and a renewal of the soul within the body.
A loss of awareness is momentarily experienced
during the transition from the material plane to the spiritual plane,
but nothing is ever destroyed in the process of mundane and celestial transformations.
Holding everything in place,
the Prime Mover is Eternally Changeless in Its Overall Composition or Being
and so are you, My Son, once you have penetrated
through the illusion of there being an Eternally Changeable Universe;
for what is there but Mind.
