One Sunday morning at Officer Candidate School last Spring, I met Captain Thomas Dyer, the Army’s first (perhaps one and only) Buddhist Chaplain.  The first day that I met him, he told me that I’m limiting my power by relying too much on logic and not enough on intuition.  It rang a bell.  I believe that the last few years I’ve been using logic to justify myself, and sometimes point out flaws in others.

I remember 7 or 8 years ago when my life was all intuition, believing in all sorts of things I couldn’t prove.  I spent hours a day doing Tai Chi and various special kinds of meditation, believing that the real benefits to my practice were too deep for me to notice now.  I believed there was special meaning when I came in close contact with a wild boar, goose and a tanuki (Japanese raccoon-dog) and shooting star (You are welcome to read the rest of this entry at returningtotheli...
