Republic Of Plato - Justice As Unmotivated

Meeting with Socrates again,

the master decided to define justice

as acting in a similar manner as those who act upon you.

Not doubting what you say, good friend,

how does this principle apply to the dualism of friend and enemy.

I am glad you asked that Socrates,

for arriving at a conclusive answer is done so through debate and logic.

Whether a man is your friend or your enemy,

you ought to treat them as fairly as they treat you.

Interjecting, Socrates wants to expose the real position

of this master.

Let us say that we were a physician.

Being a physician, we would naturally give

the appropriate medicine to our patients.

Without being too complicated,

as a physician of the soul,

what do you do or give to someone

who is not on friendly terms with you.

Well, I would give him his due by

making him regret conspiring against me.

What you are trying to say, good friend,

is that to be just is to be good and loving to your friends

and hateful towards your enemies.

Of what use is justice to the peace maker?

Your version of justice is good for those who like

to engage in one personality battle after another;

but for those are beyond violence and retribution,

how can justice serve them?

Being more monetarily minded,

I have never had to think of justice in such a way.

Perhaps you can elaborate on this new found level of justice for me Socrates.

Stay centered with me now, good friend,

for what is just is always just for everyone in every situation.

Those who are justice personified are greatly offended

by the relativity being given to justice.

If justice is to be known by the just and unjust alike,

the just must set the example by being good to

those who are peaceful and to those who are seeking trouble.

How can a man be called just

if he is just only to certain people

who personally please him?

Certainly that is how the unjust are.

Being unmotivated in who you administer justice to

is the real duty of every free citizen;

for in unmotivated justice is unmotivated mercy

and in unmotivated mercy is unmotivated love.

The real proponent of justice is therefore a peacemaker

and resolver of conflicts.

You may want to punish those who punish you,

but that often results in more punishments for everyone involved.

If you call yourself just, good friend,

be a good friend to everyone even if no one

is interested in being your friend.

This is the virtue of justice in its essence.

Hi Julian,

Yes, as Hannah said... the pics are great.  I noticed I had almost 3,000 pics on my laptop over the last five months or so!  You must have thrice that.

Writing good also.

I lost track of how many photos I used so far, but I pretty much pick them up as I go or as I am in the middle of writing something. Photos help to contextualize or objectify some of what is being said intellectually or mentally. As there are different types of learners, so there are different means to teach. These are some of the things that I am learning in regards to how to attract a wider variety of persons. Do you have techniques or strategies?

Hi Julian

Like you, I save all the ones I like which come into my FB feed...  I have quite a few spiritual postings with pics and sayings.  It takes time, to share some, save some!  I like to have some diversity so can have a choice.  I also like to save the pics for my writings on my website also. This pic I love which came into my FB feed the other day!

I agree, now we have the internet... pictures do a great job in raising our vibrations and consciousness.  We absorb into our being those we like and are drawn to, and there are so many now we have access to.  Also I can get bored with the same ones, even though beautiful, so like a change!

I noticed on one of your recent postings you had a Greek picture of a spiritual teacher and students of philosophy.  There is one I love by one of the Greek teachers which has a group of his devotees walking with him... I think it is called The School of Athens, must have a look.

As someone, who has that love and affinity to and with Jerusalem, you would not think I would have for Rome. But I do.  Have always loved the Roman and Greek statues, they are to me like the Atlanteans of old, or Gods as the saying goes.  I had a life in the beginning of the Roman Empire as a daughter of a Governor, (not a General).  So Rome and Greece, are deeply engrained in my soul.

I have a guide who although going back to Atlantis, was also around in Ancient Greece.  His name to me in this life is Amos but he was a philosopher in Ancient Greece.  He is drawn in pencil from a medium, a lady I have been privileged to have had many typed Akashic Readings from - just his head and a little below the neck.  He has a turban with a point at the top all in blue, which is my colour also, and at the top of his turban he has the wheel of rebirth with a yellow outer to the wheel.  Below that there is a yellow rose with various symbols.  As I look at him, I know he is one of my guides and teachers, and have been told that there will be several who will contact my auric field as it were for my spiritual work... I am aware of them, but they have different ways of speaking and personalities which I will learn to differentiate between.  What I had been going to say was that as I look at Amos... he reminds me of my late grampy, grandfather.. so in one life certainly, I would assume he took that role, one of many really.

Going back to my life at the beginning of the Roman Empire, I have written a story on that.  I may post at some time.  At the moment it is typed out but not on my new laptop.

I have a story Elizabeth, I am contemplating posting here.  It is quite long, but does have a strong emotion.  Back in the 1980's I read a book by Anthony Borgia about the lower astral realms and how spiritual beings went and travelled to help those.  It gave me the basis of my story, written in the 1980's.

Do you consciously channel your masters or teachers? I Would like to read something by Amos. He looks like a very interesting soul.
