Armed with all that the world can offer,
the mighty-hearted Arjuna
took his place among the warriors
of this world and the next.
Doubting whether or not it is wise
to proceed with the fight
against the shadowy nature of man,
Arjuna stumbles into the obstacles
of the long-lasting spiritual path.
Bhagavan Sri Krishna, the Guardian
of righteousness and adeptship,
encourages the morally weary Arjuna
to not give up on his Self or on the Self of others.
Seeing all that prevents Eternal Success
from manifesting before his very eyes,
Arjuna implores Krishna to listen
to his plea of defeat.
Giving up all that you have done so far,
do not look back on who you used to be
and live according to the principals of My Dharma.
Even though you are seemingly all alone
in the battlefield of your mind,
you can always rely on Me,
the Conqueror of all foes,
for the nourishment of your Soul.
Becoming too attached to the external wealth
that is brought about by following
the mundane traditions and conventions
of this world, you have rightfully become
blind to your Veritable Identity beyond matter.
Faced with the task of having to fight
with your relatives and close associates,
what has originally made you into
a warrior of external wealth
will make you into a warrior of My Primeval Light.
Breaking down into a state of self-pity,
the mighty-hearted Arjuna began to cry
over the eventual outcome of this Cosmic event.
Filled with grief and sorrow,
Krishna, the Celestial Herdsman,
carried Arjuna into His
Transcendental Sound Vibration
by blowing the conch shells
of Ultimate Victory and Spiritual Resilience.
Putting on the armor of Godhead,
Arjuna intently began to listen
to the words of this Self-Realized Sage of Eternal Happiness.
Bowing before the crowds of ignorant and wise men,
the warrior of renewed compassion
and revitalized insight
stepped forward into the battlefield of dualistic awareness.

Comment by Julian Colgan on July 31, 2012 at 12:26am For those of you who have not heard, I am going to be re-writing the Bhagavad Gita chapter by chapter for the purpose of arriving at a clearer understanding of its essential message. Each chapter will be boiled down to what is most important to remember and will offer my spin on what Krishna is saying to Arjuna throughout their Cosmic Journey Together. Hope that this is received in a Spirit of Joy. Hare Krishna.
