The Corpus Hermeticum - Mind To Hermes (9)

After listening to so many dualistic minds,

my head reels over with confusion.

Please give me a straightforward teaching

to deliver me from this uncomfortable condition, o Mind.

I will do anything for you, My Son,

for your learning is God's learning.

There are five major phenomena

which I wish you to lean on

while in silent contemplation of the One and the All.

These are: God, eternity, cosmos, time and becoming.

With God, comes eternity

and with eternity, the cosmos is born.

In like manner, with the cosmos, comes time

and with time, becoming is born.

That which is of Prime Essence to God

is the Towering Heights of Wisdom.

What highlights eternity is the search for Identity.

For the cosmos, it is order,

and for time, it is change.

Finally, for becoming,

it is the process of life and death as we know of it on Earth.

The most direct emanation of God is Mind and Soul,

whereas for eternity, it is permanence and immortality.

The progressive emanations of the cosmos are evolution and involution,

whereas for time, it is an increase and decrease of energies.

For becoming, its energies are qualitatively and quantitatively measurable.

Like a series of concentric circles,

eternity is to be found in God

and the cosmos is to be found in eternity.

In like manner, time is to be found in the cosmos

and becoming is to be found in time.

Though eternity stands absolutely still in God,

the cosmos is always active in eternity.

Watching time pass in the cosmos,

you will realize how becoming activates itself

while in the presence of time.

As can be see, the Source of every phenomena just mentioned is God.

The Essence of everything is eternity

and the cosmos is the raw material which gives Life

to every formed object.

God's power to rule is forged

in the eternality of the cosmos

and the cosmos is the working out of eternity's playful eye.

By way of eternity enclosing or encircling Itself

around the circular form of the cosmos,

nothing in the Above and the Below

is corruptible or put to shame since eternity

is eternally Wise in Its distribution of energies.

What is the Wisdom of God, o Mind?

Wisdom is the Goodness, Beauty, Happiness, Perfection and Eternity of God.

Establishing an innate order in all things,

the immortality of the Gods is hidden away in the obscure reaches of Matter.

Just as everything that is of a higher nature

depends upon something even higher than Itself

for Its continued existence,

time and becoming are dependent on Heaven and Earth.

While time and becoming are of a more immutable or changeless 

nature in relation to Heaven,

when time and becoming descend to Earth,

these phenomena become the Prime Movers of change and death.

Inwardly, the Soul of nature is nature's Prime Director,

causing the cosmos to breathe in New Life.

Outwardly, the Soul of nature persists in Its Identity

until It is in need of changing.

Holding all things together

by way of necessity, fate or nature,

the cosmos is God's production of energy.

In regards to God's energy, nothing that is human

or even remotely Divine comes close to the energetic power which God yields.

I declare unto you, o Trismegistus,

that nothing that is Above or is Below is like God

in that God is the One and Only Unity of Everything.

Besides God, who else could possibly do such marvelous things except for Its Mind.

Some may say that God is idle or inactive,

but that is inaccurate, for if God were so,

everything would be unable to move and interact

with what is in the Above and the Below.

Where would we be if it were not for God's agency and movement,

for Its independence of movement 

causes everything to be independently willing in Its necessities, fates or natures.

Observe before you the Majesty and Beauty of God's Cosmic Body,

which is ever in Its Youth while eternally Ancient 

in Its years of becoming and unbecoming.

Give praise to the Seven Sacred Planets

which mirror the eternal order of God's Mind.

Nowhere is fire to be seen, yet everything is lit and Light is everywhere.

Like and unlike harmoniously dance together

in the Highest of Heavens.

The Moon, acting as nature's servant,

transforms all that is on the Earth down below.

The Earth, peacefully resting in the sediment of eternity,

is the point of Sevenfold Glories,

combining everything that is Above with everything that is Below.

Giving a Soul to all celestial bodies,

every celestial body moves at Its own ordained rhythm,

thereby pointing to One Intelligent Creator

who was and is able to separate one planet's speed from the next.

Who but God can perfect the rhythm of the cosmos

to such an extent that every celestial body

moves in perfect harmony with God's Cosmic Body.

There Being but One Life, One Soul and One Materialized Aspect of Being,

there is necessarily but One God to Direct this Cosmic Drama or Comedy.

Working all alone, God's Mind is eternally engaged

in the Work which drives the cosmos into cycles of evolution and involution. 

Being what It works on, everything is alive with God's energy,

for what is Life but God's Life.

Think Deeply Now,

for whatever you command, it shall come to be.

By commanding your Soul to travel across the sea

or over a mountaintop, it shall do so in less than a second.

Nothing can prevent the body of your Soul

from Ascending into the Heavens.

Neither the Sun, nor Ether, nor the Constellations

can stand in your way. You even have the power to break through

the edge of this particular cosmos,

for when God is within you, anything is possible.

If you are capable of such things,

imagine what God can do;

for everything exists inside of Its Mind

like thoughts exist in Your Mind.

Without making yourself equal to God,

it is next to impossible to understand God;

for only God can understand God.

Prepare yourself to grow as infinitely as God

and to make time into your servant

by becoming the incarnation of eternity.

Able to understand and master every art

and all learnings that are known to man and to God,

you shall rise higher than every height

and go deeper than every depth.

Be everyone and everything at once.

Be every element and every country 

and every heaven and every other qualitative and quantitative phenomena.

In such a manner, you shall become God by understanding what it is like to be God.
